Align assessment definitions to specific courses

Aspen system administrators usually create an assessment definition for each assessment that students take. Some school districts have many assessment definitions, making it difficult for teachers to quickly choose the right one when they enter scores.

You can align assessment definitions to specific courses. That way, teachers can choose from a filtered pick list that only displays assessments associated with the courses they teach.

Note: Teachers need the appropriate user role privileges to enter assessment data for students.

To align an assessment definition to a course:

  1. Add the Exam Code field on the Course table to the course details default template:
    1. In the District view, click Schedule > Details.
    2. Select a course, and then click Details.
    3. Find the navkey in the URL. (This is schedule.crs.crs.details for the default template).
    4. Click Tools > Templates, and then select the default template for the navkey.
    5. Click the Design side-tab.
    6. Add the Exam Code field to the default template.
  2. Align the assessment definition to the course:
    1. In the District view, click Schedule.
    2. Select the course that you want.
    3. Click Details.

    5. Click OK.
    6. Click Save. When a teacher for this course enters assessment data, they can now select from a filtered pick list of the assessment(s) you aligned to it.
